New Moon Quilt: And SO it has been said....
Shannon,
We have received your request. This is the group's reply:
On August 4th the Twilight Quilters Coven entered an agreement to begin work on a New Moon Quilt to be donated to charity. The very first post states that it is intended for a charity auction with the final owner of any proceeds being Alex's Lemonade Stand:
The Twilight Quilters Coven is proud to announce that we are planning a New Moon Quilt. We plan to have it display it at the Utah New Moon Movie Premier and auction it off through a silent auction, with the proceeds going to the official TwilightMOMS charity, Alex's Lemonade Stand.
Quilters of all levels are invited to participate. We love to make new friends who love Twilight as much as we do and want to find a way to represent that passion in fabric.
Rules were set by head coordinator, Elizabeth. These are some rules that we want to address:
Here is our layout, by Iris & Shannon:
The final layout of the finished quilt, which was solely determined by you, does not follow these specifications.
You absolutely MUST follow through on your committment. Do not sign up if you do not plan to follow through.
Demanding that your blocks be returned would violate your commitment.
Life gets busy sometimes, and we can extend deadlines if the situation demands it, but plan ahead to make sure you're able to follow through.
While you expressed concerns on other members' timeliness on deadlines, the last blocks to be completed almost 3 weeks beyond all others turned in were your blocks. This was a concern for the quilter, but was graciously overlooked by the group.
By signing up to participate, you agree supply your own fabrics for the portion of the quilt you sign up for
Demanding that your blocks be returned would violate this commitment as well.
We are not expecting perfection, and quilters and sewers of all levels are welcome to participate.
By publicly insulting the quilting abilities of other members you went against one of the core principles of the group.
The amount of time you invest in this project will be soley up to you.
The amount of time you invested a) the blocks that you publicly signed up for b) the "additional" blocks you took it upon yourself to decide were needed without the consent of the group and c) altering other members' blocks without consent of those individuals, was considerable. But it was of your choosing.
Open discussion is welcome and even expected. We love to see what you're up to, so please feel free to post with questions, concerns, pictures, etc.
You chose to only discuss concerns with co-coordinators, rather than openly talk to each contributor. And decisions on alterations were not even mentioned to co-coordinators until after they were done.
No one entity owns the Twilight Quilters Coven therefor no one person can claim ownership of something that is done as a group effort.
1) You made your donation. The blocks cannot and will not be returned.2) Participation in a group project overrides any personal ownership of work provided for said project.3) Events by Alice, has no authority to make any offers on our behalf in reference to the quilt. Nor does any other entity or individual. The Twilight Quilters Coven as a group hold all rights to make decisions for the group by majority consent. Any offers of compensation by any other entity or individual are null and void.4) This is a volunteer organization. No one gets paid.
I NEVER ONCE ASKED TO BE PAID AND AM SICKENED BY THE SUGGESTION THAT I EVER DID. I ONLY WANT MY QUILT BLOCKS BACK.
